We travelled by train from New York to Boston where we spent three nights with family friends and the best dog in the world, Siggy, a golden doodle. Neither of us had been to Boston before and we found it to be a lovely city. It’s hard not to love a city that has sculptures of the mother duck and her ducklings from the childhood book Make Way for the Ducklings taking pride of place in the beautiful Public Garden.

As in New York, we are continually blown away by the art available to the public in this country. The collections are unbelievable and it is such a privilege to be able to see and enjoy them in the places we visit. To spend time in places such as the Met in New York and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts is certainly a highlight of our travels in the States and is also such a contradiction to our time in South America.

I always thought that Stellenbosch University was a beautiful campus, and it is, but Harvard is in another league. Guy and I spent a few hours wandering around this legendary university and it was hard not to envy the students!

We even made sure we tried some legendary Boston chowder while there! It was another busy time for us and we were pleased to have five days in the country side too look forward to as we headed to the Berkshires.
